Carissimo Giulio. Speravo di avere ieri od oggi risposta alla mia (34)
del 13 cm., per sapere che cosa desideravi che io chiedessi all’Istituto Sup. etc. etc.
Invece è giunto soltanto questa mattina il tuo saluto da Trieste. Ieri sera Gior-
gio mi ha portato la lettera che hai scritto loro e che, salvo errore, tu hai ricevuto
il 15. Non me l’ha potuta lasciare, perché ancora dovevano leggerla altri, ma
poi me la riporterà, e così potrò anche copiarla. Mi ha fatto piacere l’informa-
zione quasi allegra della lettera, che scherza sui divertimenti di S. Pietro. Quan-
do le cose si prendono così dal lato dello scherzo, è sempre un buon segno.
Dicono i francesi “Il faut faire bonne mine à mauvais jeu” – Ma, tor=
nando all’affare degli esami, neanche nella lettera agli amici ne dici
nulla. Non volendo attendere ancora, questa mattina sono tornato al=
l’Istituto ed ho parlato col Sig. Nunziante, il quale mi ha consegnato l’ac=
cluso certificato, dal quale puoi rilevare anche la data degli esami, 1° e 2° ap=
pello; ricordati perciò di copiartelo prima di mandarlo al Comando; io non sto
a riscriverlo. Nello stesso tempo mi son fatto dare indicazioni più precise
riguardo ai libri e qui appresso te li trascrivo:
Istit.di Diritto Privato – il libro è il Duse (2 volumi), che costa £ 75.
(Però Bernardini mi ha detto che è il libro che tu hai prestato al Burei e che ques=
ti ti ha scritto, di essere pronto a mandarti – Mai risposto al Burei? Che cosa
hai deciso? Dimmi se gli hai scritto di mandartelo, perché allora mi informerò
se te lo ha mandato e, se occorrerà, te lo manderò per pacco postale a S. Pietro –
Sta’ bene?) – Le dispense (£ 14-) sono quelle del Professor Angeloni
e dice il bidello Nunziante, che occorrono, perché sono le aggiunte fatte dal pro-
fessore. Se le desideri, bisognerebbe comprarle e mandarle subito – Dimmelo
Soggiungo che Giorgio mi ha detto che l’Aureli ha il Campogrande (?) che
è il libro che hai usato all’Istituto Tecnico – Ti serve? Ritengo di no perché
preferirai l’altro, se mai dimmelo –

E così ho vuotato il sacco. – Da mamma, dopo le lettere e cartoline, di cui
ti ho parlato nell’ultima mia, non è giunta più nessuna lettera, solo un saluto
da Parma insieme a Giorgio, Renata e Beba. Oggi comincia la sua 3° settimana
là ed io spero che almeno si fermi tutta questa settimana. Non v’è nessuna
ragione di affrettarsi a venire, se là il tempo è buono e se ci si trova bene.
Ritengo che poi dovrà andare a fare una visita ai Tiricoli e può darsi che que-
sti la vogliano là per qualche giorno; anche io me l’auguro, così essa vedrà
anche altri luoghi e si distrarrà, ciò che le farà molto bene. Poi avrò
la visita del pupetto, che saresti tu. Speriamo almeno; poi speriamo che possa venire anche
Otti – So non posso scriverti a lungo, perché sto aiutando Marco
per la tesi, che già dovrebbe essere finita, ed invece siamo ancora in alto
mare. – Non credo necessario di raccomandare questa lettera, ma ti prego
di scrivermi subito per mia tranquillità, appena tu l’abbia ricevuta, perché
se per disgrazia dovesse andare smarrita, (sinora non se né mai perduta nessu=
na, tranne la celebre cartolina da Postumia ….; ma la impostasti tu o la
desti ad altri da impostare?) se dunque dovesse andare smarrita,
bisognerebbe farsi fare subito un altro certificato e credo che non avrebbero
difficoltà …… a prendersi altre 3 lire! – Ritornando alla faccen-
da del libro che ha Burei, ricordati che egli è ora sotto le armi, e quindi,
non solo non potrà interessarsi della spedizione, ma non sarà nemmeno facile
pescarlo, per avere il libro. Perciò pensaci subito, se non l’hai già fatto.
Chiudo, perché do la lettera da impostare ad Elena. Del resto nel po-
meriggio non potrei neppure scrivere, non solo perché ho da fare con Marco,
ma anche perché debbo dare l’ultima lezione a Giorgio, che domani avrà l’esame
scritto. Io spero che possa cavarsela, almeno per la parte mia. Ma avrei volu-
to fare con lui un po’ di esercizi di applicazione dell’Algebra alla geometria e
non c’è stato tempo – Ti abbraccio caramente, anche per gli altri

Dear Giulio. I was hoping to receive a reply yesterday or today to my letter (34) of the 13th, to find out what you wanted me to ask the Higher Institute, etc., etc.
Instead, your greeting from Trieste only arrived this morning. Last night, Giorgio brought me the letter you wrote to them and which, unless I am mistaken, you received on the 15th. He couldn’t leave it with me because others still had to read it, but he will bring it back to me, so I can copy it. I was pleased with the almost cheerful tone of the letter, which jokes about the entertainment at St Peter’s. When things are taken so lightly, it is always a good sign.

At the same time, I asked for more precise information about the books, which I have transcribed below:

And so I spilled the beans. – Mum, after the letters and postcards I mentioned in my last letter, no more letters have arrived, just a greeting from Parma together with Giorgio, Renata and Beba. Today marks the beginning of her third week there, and I hope she stays at least the whole week. There’s no reason to rush back if the weather is good there and she’s enjoying herself.
I think she’ll have to go and visit the Tiricoli family, and maybe they’ll want her to stay for a few days; I hope so too, so she can see other places and take her mind off things, which will do her a lot of good. Then I’ll have a visit from the little one, which would be you. Let’s hope so, at least; then let’s hope that Otti can come too. I know I can’t write to you at length because I’m helping Marco with his thesis, which should already be finished, but instead we’re still in the middle of it. – I don’t think it’s necessary to recommend this letter, but please write to me immediately for my peace of mind as soon as you receive it, because if by misfortune it should get lost (so far none have ever been lost, except for the famous postcard from Postumia …; but did you post it yourself or give it to someone else to post?) if it should get lost, we would have to get another certificate immediately, and I don’t think they would have any difficulty … in charging another 3 lire! – Returning to the matter of the book that Burei has, remember that he is now in the army, and therefore, not only will he not be able to take care of the shipment, but it will not even be easy to find him to get the book. So think about it right away, if you haven’t already.
I’m signing off now, because I’m giving the letter to Elena to post. Besides, I won’t be able to write this afternoon, not only because I have to deal with Marco, but also because I have to give Giorgio his last lesson, as he has a written exam tomorrow. I hope he can manage, at least as far as I’m concerned. But I would have liked to do some exercises with him on applying algebra to geometry, and there hasn’t been time. Giulio Gualerzi, al termine del corso ufficiali, già dall’agosto dello stesso anno viene inquadrato nel 12° Reggimento Fanteria “Casale” e successivamente nella Brigata “Sassari”, costituita il 1° marzo 1915 a Tempio Pausania con i Reggimenti di Fanteria 151° e 152°, anch’essi di nuova formazione.
La Brigata “Sassari” durante la Grande Guerra la Brigata si batte con grande coraggio tanto da essere più volte citata come “…speciale unità d’assalto…”. Gli Austriaci imparano a temere questi soldati coriacei e testardi che contendono il terreno palmo a palmo.
Per l’eroico comportamento nel corso della Prima Guerra Mondiale le Bandiere dei due reggimenti vengono decorate con due Medaglie d’Oro al Valor Militare.
In esecuzione della legge 11 marzo 1926 sull’ordinamento dell’Esercito, che prevede la costituzione delle Brigate su tre reggimenti, inquadra oltre al 151° ed al 152°, anche il 12° Reggimento Fanteria “Casale” e prende il nome di XII Brigata di Fanteria.
Successivamente la Brigata ed il 34° Reggimento Artiglieria entrano a far parte della Divisione Militare Territoriale di Trieste (12a) e allorché nel 1934 detta grande unità assume il nominativo di Divisione di Fanteria del Timavo (12a) la Brigata diviene Brigata di Fanteria del Timavo (XII).
Nel 1939, abolito il livello brigata, si forma la Divisione di Fanteria “Sassari” (12a) che inquadra i Reggimenti 151° e 152° Fanteria e 34° Artiglieria per Divisione di fanteria.
Nel 1941 entra nell’organico divisionale anche la 73a Legione CC.NN. d’assalto.
Impiegata alla fronte alpina occidentale nel 1940, dal 1941 al 1943 conduce un intenso ciclo operativo antiguerriglia in Jugoslavia prima di essere rimpatriata ed essere dislocata intorno Roma nel 1943.
A seguito degli eventi determinati dall’armistizio, la divisione si scioglie il 10 settembre 1943 dopo aver partecipato alla difesa di Roma dagli attacchi delle forze tedesche.
Il 1° dicembre 1988 viene costituita in Sassari la Brigata Motorizzata “Sassari” nella quale sono nuovamente riuniti il 151° Battaglione Motorizzato “Sette Comuni” ed il 152° Battaglione Fanteria “Sassari” ai quali si affianca poi anche il 45° Battaglione Fanteria “Arborea”.
Dal 1° gennaio 1991 diviene Brigata Meccanizzata “Sassari” e con il riordinamento della Forza Armata inquadra il Reparto Comando e Supporti Tattici ed i Reggimenti di Fanteria 151° e 152° “Sassari” ed il 45° “Reggio” che sarà perso di forza dopo poco.
il 26 settembre 2003 viene ricostituito in Macomer il 5° Reggimento genio guastatori per trasformazione del 45° Reggimento fanteria “Reggio” ed inquadrato nella Brigata meccanizzata “Sassari”.
il 1° dicembre 2009, nel quadro dei provvedimenti di razionalizzazione della Forza Armata, lo Stato Maggiore dell’Esercito ha disposto la ridislocazione del 3° Reggimento bersaglieri dalla caserma “Mameli” di Milano alla caserma “Salvatore Pisano” di Capo Teulada, lasciando la 132^ Brigata corazzata “Ariete” e passando alle dipendenze della Brigata meccanizzata “Sassari”.(fonte)
