L’opera pittorica, realizzata all’aria aperta, raffigura una giornata invernale a Villa Borghese, ambientata davanti a un filare di alberi. Sul prato antistante, un’area verde resa con poche morbide pennellate si distende in un dolce declivio. Dipingendo con rapidità, Enrico D’Ancona affida la resa narrativa alle macchie di colore. Il risultato è una rappresentazione vivida, particolarmente efficace grazie al contrasto tra le tinte del paesaggio, che spaziano dai bruni ai verdi scuri, con la silhouette azzurra del cielo invernale bianco e terso.
Sul retro, in basso a sinistra, è riportata a matita blu la data dicembre 1921, accompagnata dalla firma Enrico D’Ancona, mentre a destra compare il titolo del dipinto, Villa Borghese. Al centro si legge, in bianco, la data XII 1921. Nel fondo traspare una trama di alcune linee a matita, e in basso, con matita rosa, sembra di nuovo leggersi “XII – 24” insieme a una parola poco chiara.

The painting, created outdoors, depicts a winter day in Villa Borghese, set in front of a row of trees. On the lawn in front, a green area rendered with a few soft brushstrokes stretches out on a gentle slope. Painting quickly, Enrico D’Ancona entrusts the narrative rendering to patches of colour. The result is a vivid representation, particularly effective thanks to the contrast between the colours of the landscape, ranging from browns to dark greens, and the blue silhouette of the clear, white winter sky.
On the back, at the bottom left, the date December 1921 is written in blue pencil, accompanied by the signature Enrico D’Ancona, while on the right is the title of the painting, Villa Borghese. In the centre, the date XII 1921 is written in white. In the background, a pattern of pencil lines can be seen, and at the bottom, in pink pencil, it seems to read “XII – 24” again, together with an unclear word.
